North Shore Lacrosse New Steward of a Cape Ann Institution!

Beginning this summer, North Shore Lacrosse will take on the administrative tasks and game management of the 12 year old Greenhead Lacrosse League.  Thanking John Pynchon for this opportunity, North Shore Lacrosse is charged with the responsibility of continuing a legacy-his hard work each summer has built a foundation for adult league summer lacrosse in our region.

Pynchon, the founder of Greenhead Lacrosse states "Greenhead Lacrosse was started twelve years ago as a venue to watch my sons play summer lacrosse. Through the grateful efforts of Betty and Ted Raymond, and Tim O'Brien, we were able to play pick-up games throughout the summer in historical Ipswich, MA. From that first summer the league has grown to the point now where over two hundred men and women have an opportunity to hone their lacrosse skills.  To have an organization like North Shore Lacrosse manage the day to day operations, marketing and game management, is to ensure that Greenhead Lacrosse will cotinue to grow to fulfill my vision and create the penultimate league for all levels of lacrosse".

As a 10 year old lacrosse organization ourselves, we are confident our past experiences in bringing this area consistent, organized, and professionally managed summer leagues will translate into the expected level of play and competition your summer deserves.  Additionally, our contacts in this lacrosse rich region will support an enriched environment balanced with new players (18 plus), current collegiate level athletes, established clubs, and those who are beyond college but still looking for that great workout, under a very carefully supervised and managed game environment.  Safety and Sportsmanship has been our key ingredient in all of our leagues over the years, and for Greenhead Lacrosse this will continue to remain true.

Immediate changes include;

  • 4 fifteen minute quarters for a true lacrosse experience
  • Games will therefore begin at 6 PM and last until 7:15, or 7:30 and last until 9:00 PM
  • Athletic Trainer and/or EMT's at all games

We promise to bring the Greenhead League our passion and commitment North Shore Lacrosse is known for, and exceed the same expectations you have for the game.  From the Boston Globe to North Shore Magazine, to local papers and national websites, North Shore Lacrosse has earned a following with published articles over the years for many positive reasons. Though it may only seem like a small summer league to many, the care with which we plan for and plan ahead provides a venue that most "rec" leagues would never get to experience.  We are proud of that history and welcome you back to create new memories in the "new" old Greenhead Lacrosse League.
