We began organizing leagues in 2002 at Endicott College in Beverly, MA, and the Pingree School in S. Hamilton, MA with the help of Craig Roderick, Brian Wylie, Chris Powers, and Kevin Commette. All of the organizers had extensive backgrounds in athletics-from sports medicine, strength and conditioning, administration, coaching, higher education, and more. All of us are still in various levels of athletic management, including Director Of Athletics (Brian Wylie), Associate Director and Head Football/Baseball Coach (Chris Powers), Assistant Director of Athletics, Director of Team Sales-Lacrosse, Jungle, COO, North Shore Lacrosse (Craig Roderick), and School of Sports Management/Internship Director (Kevin Commette).
Driven by the lack of a well managed recreational league for players under 18 of ALL levels in the north shore area of MA, we petitioned our hosts Pingee and Endicott to allow us access for a planned summer of highly supervised lacrosse activities. After securing our field contracts, we incorporated as an LLC, and subsequently are now listed as North Shore Lacrosse, LLP.
Starting in the summer of 2002, we began taking mail-in paper registrations for a girl's HS league and boy's HS league. Our approach was suprisingly simple; organize the best off season league available by implementing our specific strategies and objectives across the breadth of athletics/coaching management, maintain sportsmanship as a critical component, provide a safe and supportive environment that reflected pride and projected value, and ensure a FUN experience.
We began that summer with 5 "teams' of HS Boy's and 3 "teams" of HS Girl's. As our coaching philosophies and objectives took hold, the league began to grow each year to reach over 1000 players in leagues for players from 5th grade thru age 40! We were asked to help Home Grown Lacrosse (now HGR) in North Andover organize their indoor winter leagues, which now has grown to over 40 teams. Our approach to the game allowed us to purchase the 18+ Greenhead Lacrosse League from owner John Pynchon, as he wanted to leave the league in hands that best would ensure future success. Project development and management of programs has led us to now offer a multitude of recreationally based leagues for all ages, development programs, and clinics that are rivaled by no one in New England. In recent year's we have developed Partnership Agreements with groups such as Elite Lacrosse, Seacoast United, HGR Lacrosse, and more.
In 2014, the we now offer the following leagues and programs;
North Shore, MA-Home Field-Endicott College with two lighted turf facilities
Southern Maine and Southern New Hampshire
