Announcing New Fall Formats for HS Boys, Mid Sch Girls and Boys, and now, U-11/-13 Teams for 2010/11!!!

Revised rules, longer game times, smaller nets for FALL and Winter Leagues. Fall League starts Sunday October 10 for all leagues!

 Starting Sunday's on October 10 thru December 5th, North Shore Lacrosse will offer "box" style lacrosse at Homegrown's indoor facility in North Andover.  Featuring Leagues for Boys and Girls Middle School, Boy's High School levels,and the NEW u-11/u-13 Combined Practice/Play Development League!   The new box style lacrosse rules and changes will add a level of excitement unseen at these age levels!

High School Players will enjoy the following exciting changes from their normal lacrosse experience!
  • 1.5 HR GAMES with 4 20-minute quarters (High School Only) full of BOX STYLE LACROSSE
  • NLL STYLE SMALL GOALS
  • 2 POINT ARC
  • 5 v 5 ONLY with offsides and one longstick D on the field per team
  • Each game will be worth 5 points in the standings...each quarter played will be worth one point, with the final score (goals) determining the 5th point.
  • Each League plays on Sunday's-from 8 AM (one game per day through as late as 6-7 PM)
  • Each team plays at least 8 games then playoffs! *U-11/13 schedule based on numbers and teams entered but we anticipate at least 8 "dates" to play
  • NO PRACTICES-JUST GAMES (except for the u-11/u-13 league)
  • Season ends Dec. 5th
  • Caliber of players-high school level will range from JV to Varsity level-with a few "club" teams in the league for each level
  • Middle School level will be as seen in most games for both boys and girls-there may be a few club teams

 

Girl's Middle and Boy's Middle School Players will also play on Sunday's, with similar rules and formats with two 25-minute running halfs.

NEW RULES TO INCORPORATE SAFE "BOX STYLE LACROSSE FOR ALL AGES!
  • All Games Indoors at Homegrown's Facility in North Andover, MA
  • ***No slashing allowed, 5 x 5 Nets (instead of 6 x 6), Goalies don't need new equipment, Players don't need new equipment
  • This is simply a format that uses some Box Lacrosse elements, but maintains the safety and integrity of regular field lacrosse!
  • 5 v 5 Format with Certified Referees, Guest College Coaches, and Athletic Trainers
  • Sign up as an Individual online...Registration Open on the Homepage, Left Side Link
  •  Under "Preference" at the online registration page, choose your hometown team, city, club team name, or even "I want to play with Paul Rabil, John Christmas, BB from Homegrown, J. Vazquez from Haverhill", or whoever your friend might happen to be
  • We will keep you together, up to 18 players max per HIGH SCHOOL team*** (including two goalies), first come first serve-and players will play both attack, "middie" (middie is relevant term in Box Style Lax-it's more like transition only/attack or "wing" in ice hockey), and defense via rotations
  • ***U-11/U-13 and Middle School teams will be held to 14 players including two goalies due to shorter game times
  • ***U-11/U-13 format will have practice sessions followed by games up to 1.5 hours in total practice/play length.  This depends on weekly attendance, adjusting the day's activities to skill level and positions.
  • Your rosters will be available on this page (North Shore and/or Merrimack Valley "Fall/Winter League" links), and all games for your league will be under the "SCHEDULE" page
